Effects & Benefits
Maui Waui was one of the initial strains with a significantly high THC percentage. In the 60s, when Maui Waui was created, the THC content of an average marijuana strain was relatively low (nearly always under 8%). Maui Wowie featured THC range well into the teens and quickly became one of the most selected strains.
It is considered a middle to high-grade remedy that provides a standard Sativa high with a few Indica perks. Other flowers (along with new Hybrids) have caught up and exceeded this legendary strain in THC content.
Frequent users of Maui Waui describe happy and energetic effects that can also increase creativity. It delivers a light and pleasant body-numbing sensation and a robust case of the stereotypical ‘munchies.’
Maui Waui’s Indica side may help relieve minor chronic aches and pains. The Sativa effects of this flower can ease stress, anxiety, and chronic depression and stimulates appetite in those with anorexia and other eating conditions. Some users also utilize this Sativa as medication for chronic migraine.
Maui Waui developed as an outdoor grow on the island of Maui and almost instantly spread to all the Hawaiian Islands. Unfortunately, the strain’s precise genetics are not clear. The plants of this Sativa show their true lineage in their height, usually reaching around 175 centimetres. Maui Wowie is relatively resistant to moulds, mildew, and disease when cultivated in a tropical climate. Outside, Maui Wowie should only be raised in a tropical environment.
